With every new season, comes a new list of closet staples to enjoy . For Spring, it’s easy to gravitate toward bold floral pieces or bright pastels. However investing in a few simple and classic staple items that you can mix and match will help to keep your wardrobe fresh. Today I’m sharing a few of my favorites as well as 5 things you should have in your closet.
1. Versatile Cami
Cami’s are great for layering in the fall and wearing on their own during Springtime. My favorite this year has been this one from Express. It’s a polyester blend and has a double layer of fabric. I love the feminine rounded hem, making it perfect for dressing up or down. I also love the color and pattern selection. I’ve purchased this in a few solid colors (black, white, and gray), but am tempted to add the newer prints they’ve introduced. I never really appreciated the importance of a good cami, and would roll my eyes at the thought of spending more that $5 on one (…you know the ones I’m referring to- those super long stretchy ones from Forever 21 that turn into a bundle of thread after just one wash) But as I get older, I look for investment pieces, and recognize the value in spending a little more for better quality.
2. A Neutral Heel
One of the best things about a spring wardrobe is the implementation of neutrals among more busy patterns. My favorite way to incorporate neutrals around this time of year is in a great pair of shoes– pumps to be exact. There is something very effortless and sophisticated about nude pumps, and from a style perspective they do wonders for elongating the legs. For more casual get-ups, a nude sandal is a great option as well that pairs easily with a skirt, dress, or jeans.
3. A Crossbody Bag
I always have trouble minimizing the contents of my purse to fit inside a crossbody. But I do love the lightweight ‘carry only what you need’ nature of this type of bag, especially during Spring. When the weather is warmer, and you find yourself out and about more often, the crossbody is convenient and a flattering to accompaniment your springtime outfit. Although this isn’t necessarily exclusive to Spring, I do find that I favor larger handbags in the fall/winter and tend to choose a crossbody in the spring and summer. Here are some of my favorites.
4. White Denim
There is no better time to wear white jeans than in the Spring. Finding the perfect pair of jeans can be tricky no matter what, but the struggle is reaaaalllll when it comes to white jeans in particular. You’ll want to look for jeans are thick enough to provide adequate coverage, but lightweight enough to be breathable and comfortable. You don’t want them to be so stretchy that they look like they’re painted on, but they can’t be too stiff either. See what I mean…it’s nearly impossible. But when done right, white demin is the perfect addition to your Spring wardrobe. Here are some options to try
5. Stripes!
What can I say? Stripes for me are like neutrals as in…you can never have too many! I love how a classic striped tee can be paired with a pair of jeans, or mixed with a bolder pattern. This is easily a year-round staple, but definitely one that I find myself implementing over and over during this time of year.
Thanks so much for reading friends! What are some of your Spring favorites?
