Better late than never, right? I’m so excited to share my January favorites with you! I’ve narrowed it down to 5 particular items that I’ve been loving and I hope you will too! 1) Sonix Tortoise Shell Phone Case– Polynesians have been rocking tortoise-shell loooong before you could find it on every accessory at Nordstrom. So naturally, when I saw this phone case, I had to have it! I have purchased several phone cases from this brand, and I love their different designs, and durability. They are sturdy cases, that provide excellent protection for your phone. I only buy cases that wrap entirely around the phone (rather than the ones that just clip to the back but don’t cover the edges), and this one fits my phone snugly without being too bulky.
2) Free People Bralette– If you follow along on Instagram, you know that I’m obsessed with these bralettes from Free People. I honestly was never a fan of bralettes in the past. I always felt like they looked so cute on others, but didn’t provide enough coverage for me and I was so self-conscious. A friend recommended this one, and it is such a game changer! Not only is the delicate lace design so gorgeous and perfect for layering, it also gives adequate coverage. I love to pair this with oversize sweaters and cardigans and it can be worn underneath t-shirts as well. If you are planning to layer it under a thinner or more sheer piece of clothing, I would recommend accompanying the bralette with adhesive ‘petals’ like these to smooth out that area…if you catch my drift 🙂 (If you’re still confused…just think cold weather, hehe)
3) Essie Gel Top Coat– Friends! This stuff is awesome! I love a gel manicure as much as the next girl, but we all know that it causes damage to your nails, and you need to take an occasional break. This gel top coat is perfect for those at home mani’s while you are waiting for your nails to recover in between salon visits. It gives the same look as gels, and even lasts longer than a regular clear top coat (I was using OPI, and this is 10x better!). They normally sell this as a ‘Step 2’ paired with another gel polish BUT, you can save money by purchasing the top coat on it’s own and using it over any type of nail polish to achieve the same results. Buy it! You won’t be disappointed.
4) L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil– I don’t know about you, but this dry winter weather is wreaking havoc on my skin. I already have pretty dry skin normally, so I have to be more diligent during these months to ensure that I am giving it proper moisture. I have used the hand cream by L’Occitane for years and recently discovered their shower oil. It’s amazing. It will easily be one of my shower staples from here on out. I use this as an alternative to soap or body wash, and it leaves my skin feeling so soft and smelling so good. It absorbs into my skin seamlessly without feeling greasy and I feel like it’s adding a deeper level of moisture compared to using only a lotion or cream. If you have never tried a shower oil, I highly recommend it– especially at this time of year.
5) Moodstruck 3D Fiber Mascara– We all have that one make-up product that we can’t live without, and for me, that is mascara. I love mascara, and am guilty of applying 3+ coats to make my lashes pop. Sisters, I discovered the mascara to end all mascaras! I first heard about fiber mascara years ago, from a friend at the restaurant where I worked at the time. Fast forward 5 years, and I was introduced to it again by one of my blogger friends. Based on her rave reviews and results, I decided to give it a try. I’m SO IMPRESSED by what I’ve seen! Here are my results:
Essentially, this kit contains 2 parts: the ‘transplanting gel’ (basically a primer), and the fibers. The fibers are a bit tricky to work with at first. What I’ve learned, is to apply the gel like you would regular mascara (from the base of the lash, to the tip). With the fibers, you want to focus that application on the middle of the lash to the tip to avoid them falling into your eyes. The best part for me, is the price. It’s an incredible value for $29! It lasts for hours, and is completely buildable without getting stiff throughout the day. You can shop this amazing mascara here! I’d love to answer any questions you may have if you are considering giving this a try.
As always, thank you so much for reading and Happy February!
