Next week marks the start of spring, and I am so excited for warmer temperatures, beautiful blossoms and spending time outdoors. San Diego has no shortage of things to do, but there are definitely some special seasonal activities worth exploring. I’ve always heard such amazing things about the Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch that bloom during Spring. This is the first year I got to visit, and it certainly did not disappoint. If you are local to the area, or passing through during this time of year you should absolutely add this to your San Diego bucketlist.

This 50 acre field situated on a hillside in Carlsbad, overlooks the Pacific Ocean and boasts just about every single color imaginable of beautiful, giant Tecolote Ranunculus flowers. The season starts on March 1st, and will last until Mid-May. My husband and I went very early on in the season, so there was only a certain patch of flowers blooming, about a mile away from the entrance. I didn’t mind at all, because I enjoyed having the space all to myself 😉 but we plan to stop by again once more of the flowers have bloomed.

Admission to the flower fields is $16 for adults and $8 for children 3-10. Parking is free! They offer a wagon ride for an additional fee to transport guests to the fields on the outskirts of the property. The recommended attire is definitely not what I’m wearing (don’t be deceived. I look like I’m casually frolicking, but it. was. freezing!) I would suggest closed-toed shoes, and a light jacket if you’re visiting at dusk. The sunset is so gorgeous up on the hill, and the panoramic view coupled with the bright flowers is unreal.
